The FOXP2 gene also known as forkhead box P2 encodes a protein that plays a significant role in gene regulation. The FOXP2 protein is involved in the transcriptional regulation of its target genes acting as a transcription factor. With a molecular mass of approximately 80 kDa it binds to DNA sequences influencing the expression of other genes that control various cellular processes.
