Product details:
What are recombinant multiclonals?
Recombinant multiclonals are a mixture of recombinant antibodies co-expressed from a library of heavy and light chains. They offer several advantages including:
- The sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies by recognising multiple epitopes
- High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
- Improved sensitivity and specificity
- Long-term security of supply
- Animal-free batch production

PITX3 also known as paired-like homeodomain transcription factor 3 is a transcription factor that plays a role in gene expression regulation. It has a mass of approximately 32 kDa. PITX3 is predominantly found in the eye lens and dopaminergic neurons specifically in the substantia nigra. This region of the brain is vital for motor control. PITX3 expression is important in ocular development and maintaining cellular function in these regions.
Biological function summary
The PITX3 protein regulates critical processes in ocular development and survival of dopaminergic neurons. It is not part of a complex itself but works closely with other regulatory factors influencing various genes involved in neuron differentiation and eye structures. PITX3's activity in these biological systems is fundamental to proper development and cellular homeostasis.
Pathways
PITX3 plays a significant role in the development and function of dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra as well as in the formation of eye tissues. It is involved in pathways like Wnt and dopamine synthesis which are critical for neuronal function and vision development. PITX3 interacts with proteins such as Nurr1 in these pathways contributing to neuron survival and differentiation. The balance of these processes directly impacts the development and function of target tissues.
PITX3 mutations are closely associated with ocular diseases like congenital cataracts and neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease. In the context of Parkinson's disease PITX3's role alongside proteins like alpha-synuclein is critical; dysregulation in their interaction can lead to dopaminergic neuron degeneration. Understanding PITX3 interactions with other proteins helps illuminate the molecular basis of these conditions offering potential therapeutic targets.
