Robo2 also known as Roundabout Homolog 2 is a protein with significant roles in axon guidance. This protein has a molecular mass of approximately 147 kDa and is a member of the Robo receptor family. It is primarily expressed in the nervous system including areas such as the spinal cord brain and olfactory bulb. Robo2 interacts with Slit proteins to mediate the repulsive guidance of axons which is fundamental for the formation of connections in the developing nervous system.
Biological function summary
Robo2 functions in the nervous system to guide axons and establish neuron networks. It plays a role in cellular processes like migration and axonal pathfinding ensuring proper connectivity. Robo2 operates as a receptor and does not form part of a larger complex by itself but it does have interactions with other molecules.
