AKT1 and AKT3 are serine/threonine kinases also known as protein kinase B alpha (PKBα) for AKT1 and protein kinase B gamma (PKBγ) for AKT3. Both proteins are expressed in various tissues with AKT1 being found in most tissues and AKT3 being more prominent in the brain. AKT1 has a molecular weight of approximately 56 kDa while AKT3 is around 54 kDa.
