Mad2L1 also known as MAD2 or Kirk Mad2 is an important player in the mitotic checkpoint ensuring proper chromosomal segregation during cell division. It acts as a spindle assembly checkpoint protein weighing approximately 24.5 kDa. It is widely expressed in tissues with high proliferative activity including testis thymus and fetal liver.
