SDPR also known as serum deprivation-response protein has a molecular mass of around 43 kDa and acts mechanically by binding to phosphatidylserine within cell membranes. It plays a role in cell shape and structure due to its interaction with the cytoskeleton. This protein is expressed highly in adipocytes and several other tissues such as lung and endothelium. It localizes mainly to caveolae which are small invaginations in the plasma membrane.
