Carbohydrate Antigen 19-9 (CA19-9), also known as sialyl-Lewis A, is a cell surface glycoprotein complex. CA 19-9 expression requires the Lewis gene product, 1,4-fucosyltransferase, found only in patients with Le (a-b+) or Le (a+b-) blood groups. CA19-9 antigen is highly expressed in a variety of gastrointestinal epithelial malignancies including colon cancer and pancreatic cancer, and in breast cancer and small cell lung cancer, but has a limited expression on normal tissues.

Recommended Usage: Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometric staining, the suggested use of this reagent is ≤ 1.0 µg per million cells in 100 µL volume. For immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, a concentration range of 5.0 - 10.0 µg/mL is suggested. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
