CD44 is an adhesion molecule involved with multiple functions, including lymphocyte activation, cell-matrix interactions particularly hyaluronic acid, and as a marker of effector memory T-Cells. CD44v5 may be an indicator for tumor presence and progression in certain cancers, such as colon, thymus, breast, and prostate.
