Nitric oxide synthase 1 (NOS1) catalyzes the formation of nitric oxide (NO) from L-arginine. NO signals in neurons intracellularly to regulate metabolic activity and dendrite growth. NO also functions in neurons as a neurotransmitter-like signaling molecule, and in muscle cells, where it is a potent relaxer. High concentrations of NO are cytotoxic, so it is utilized by macrophages as a bactericide/tumoricide, and it has also been implicated in the progression of neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s.

Recommended Usage: Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by western blotting. For western blotting, the suggested use of this reagent is 0.5 - 1.0 µg/mL. For immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, a concentration of 5 - 10 µg/mL is suggested. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
Application Notes: This product was tested and failed for IHC-F in mouse brain.
