Product Description
Beta-arrestin 1, a member of the arrestin family, is a crucial regulatory protein involved in G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling, modulating GPCR activity following receptor activation. Arrestins bind directly to phosphorylated GPCRs and preclude their interaction with other proteins, thus inhibiting further signaling and preventing overstimulation. Furthermore, binding of arrestins like Beta-arrestin 1 can result in receptor internalization, leading potentially to ligand-receptor decoupling and receptor recycling, or to receptor degradation and a reduction in the available receptors in the cell. Thus Beta-arrestin 1 regulates a wide variety of physiological processes including inflammation, metabolism, and cell migration, highlighting its importance in cellular communication and homeostasis.
