Sigma intracellular receptor 2 (σ2R), also known as SIGMAR2 or TMEM97, is a transmembrane protein that is associated with the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), membranes and lysosomes. It is widely distributed in normal tissues such as the brain, lungs, heart, skeletal muscles, testis, and ovary. TMEM97 has been demonstrated to regulate the cholesterol transporter NPC1 in maintaining cholesterol homeostasis. Elevated expression of TMEM97 is a potential prognostic biomarker for breast, lung, colon, ovarian, bladder and oral squamous cancers. TMEM97 is also implicated in several neurological disorders and age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.

Recommended Usage: Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by western blotting. For western blotting, the suggested use of this reagent is 0.125 - 1.0 µg/mL. For immunohistochemistry, a concentration range of 1.0 - 10.0 µg/mL is suggested. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
Additional Product Notes: For use in immunohistochemistry on FFPE tissues (IHC-P), antigen retrieval with Citrate Buffer (Cat. No. 420901) is recommended. This antibody (clone W22180E) does not cross-react with mouse TMEM97 in Western Blot. We do not recommend this antibody for use in immunocytochemistry (ICC).
