Product Description

Caldesmon is a calmodulin-, actin-, and tropomyosin-binding protein that plays an essential role in smooth muscle and non-muscle contraction. This protein is also involved in cellular mitosis and Schwann cell migration during peripheral nerve regeneration.
100μg
Verified Reactivity: Human
Antibody Type: Monoclonal
Host Species: Mouse
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to the N-terminus of the human Caldesmon protein.
Formulation: Phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide.
Preparation: The antibody was purified by affinity chromatography.
Concentration: 0.5 mg/ml
Storage & Handling: The antibody solution should be stored undiluted between 2°C and 8°C.
Application: IHC-P - Quality tested IHC-F, WB - Reported in the literature, not verified in house
Recommended Usage: Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded immunohistochemical staining. For immunohistochemistry, a concentration range of 1.0 - 10 μg/ml is suggested. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
RRID: AB_2629661 (BioLegend Cat. No. 846702)
Structure: Caldesmon is a 793 amino acid protein with a molecular mass of 93 kD.
Distribution: Tissue distribution: high-molecular-weight caldesmon (isoform 1) is predominantly expressed in smooth muscles, whereas low-molecular-weight caldesmon (isoforms 2, 3, 4 and 5) are widely distributed in non-muscle tissues and cells. Caldesmon is not expressed in skeletal muscle or heart.. Cellular distribution: cytoskeleton, cytosol, and plasma membrane.
Function: Caldemon mainly regulates actomyosin interactions in smooth muscle and non-muscle cells which affects cell contractions. The protein is also involved in cellular mitosis and in Schwann cell migration during peripheral nerve regeneration.
Interaction: Calmodulin, actin, and tropomyosin.
Biology Area: Cell Biology, Cell Motility/Cytoskeleton/Structure
Molecular Family: Enzymes and Regulators
