TACC2, also known as anti-zuai-1 (AZU-1), was abundantly expressed in non- and premalignant cells and tissues but was appreciably reduced in breast tumor cell types and in primary tumors, thus TACC2 may act as a tumor suppressor protein and represent a tumor progression marker. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
