The Frk is a tyrosine kinase expressed in various tissues, such as the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic islet cells. It affects pancreatic beta cell number during embryogenesis and promotes beta cell cytotoxic signals in response to streptozotocin(PMID:20157399).
