Its function in the nucleolus is likely related to maintaining nucleolar structure and cell growth, while its role in the nucleoplasm may be associated with anti-angiogenic effects. Additionally, NOL7 is involved in the accumulation of early pre-rRNA and the processing of pre-18S rRNA, which are crucial for maintaining nucleolar function and cell growth. The expression of NOL7 is regulated by various transcription factors, including c-myc and RXRα. In cervical cancer, NOL7 transcription is also positively regulated by the RB tumor suppressor gene.
