It's an inhibitory regulator of the Ras-cAMP pathway. SYNGAP1 is a member of the NMDAR signaling complex in excitatory synapses, it may play a role in NMDAR-dependent control of AMPAR potentiation, AMPAR membrane trafficking and synaptic plasticity.
