It plays a key role in the regulation of IgE production and B-cell differentiation by binding to IgE and promoting IgE-dependent antigen uptake and presentation to T cells. In addition, CD23 is involved in allergen processing, immune cell activation and antigen-specific immune responses. In clinical applications, CD23 is a potential target for the treatment of allergic diseases, and its inhibition reduces IgE-mediated inflammatory responses.
