USP28 is a 53BP1-interacting protein and a putative deubiquitinating enzyme, and belongs to a family of enzymes, called deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs), which remove ubiquitin from the ubiquitin conjugates(PMID:16901786). It can be phosphorylated upon DNA damage at Ser-67 and Ser-714, by ATM or ATR(PMID:16901786).
