CD36 can bind to multiple ligands, including thrombospondin-1, collagen, oxidized phospholipids, oxidized low-density lipoprotein, and long-chain fatty acids. CD36 can also bind to erythrocytes parasitized by Plasmodium falciparum and apoptotic cells.
