Product details:
Abcam's anti-Mycoplasma pneumoniae IgG Human
in vitro
ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the accurate qualitative measurement of IgG class antibodies against Mycoplasma pneumoniae in Human serum and plasma.
A 96-well plate has been precoated with Mycoplasma pneumoniae antigens to bind cognate antibodies. Controls or test samples are added to the wells and incubated. Following washing, a horseradish peroxidase (HRP) labelled anti-Human IgG conjugate is added to the wells, which binds to the immobilized Mycoplasma pneumoniae-specific antibodies. TMB is then catalyzed by the HRP to produce a blue color product that changes to yellow after adding an acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of Mycoplasma pneumoniae IgG sample captured in plate.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae IgG also known as anti-Mycoplasma IgG serves as an antibody against Mycoplasma pneumoniae a common bacterial pathogen responsible for respiratory infections. These antibodies typically do not have a specific mass as they are not a single protein but rather a class of immunoglobulins. Mycoplasma pneumoniae IgG is expressed after a host is exposed to the Mycoplasma pneumoniae bacterium and its presence in the bloodstream can be detected through serological assays such as ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay).
Biological function summary
Antibodies targeting Mycoplasma pneumoniae contribute to immune response against infection by facilitating pathogen recognition and clearance. This response involves the binding of IgG to bacterial antigens marking the pathogen for destruction by immune cells. Mycoplasma pneumoniae IgG is not part of a permanent complex; instead it participates dynamically with immune components like macrophages and T-cells to fight the infection.
Pathways
Mycoplasma pneumoniae IgG plays a role in the immune response pathway particularly in the adaptive immune system. This pathway involves antigen presentation where Mycoplasma antigens are processed and presented to helper T-cells leading to an immune response and production of specific antibodies like IgG. Mycoplasma pneumoniae IgG is related to proteins such as major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules which assist in antigen presentation to the immune system.
Mycoplasma pneumoniae IgG is strongly associated with respiratory infections such as atypical pneumonia often affecting children and young adults. The presence of these antibodies indicates past or ongoing infections and can help in diagnosing mycoplasma infections. This antibody connects to inflammatory proteins involved in respiratory disease pathways like interleukin-6 (IL-6) which may exacerbate the pulmonary symptoms experienced during infection.
