TMEM16B also known as ANO2 is a calcium-activated chloride channel with a mass of around 116 kDa. It plays a role in ion transport across the cell membrane. TMEM16B is expressed in various tissues most notably in the sensory neurons and the retina where it contributes to the function of sensory systems. Its activity depends on calcium presence allowing the passage of chloride ions which affects membrane potential and cellular signaling.
