The DDA1 (DET1 and DDB1 associated 1) protein also known as DET1 and DDB1-associated protein 1 plays an important mechanical role in cellular processes. This protein has a molecular mass of approximately 12 kDa and is ubiquitously expressed in various tissues. DDA1 is involved in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway acting primarily as an adaptor protein that facilitates the recruitment of substrates for ubiquitination. Its mechanical function contributes to the regulation of protein stability and degradation.
Biological function summary
DDA1 interacts with several other proteins to form part of the Cullin-RING E3 ubiquitin ligase (CRL) complex. This complex is important for tagging target proteins with ubiquitin marking them for degradation by the proteasome. DDA1's interaction with DET1 and DDB1 highlights its role in influencing cellular homeostasis and response to DNA damage. By participating in these interactions it helps maintain normal cell cycle progression and cellular response mechanisms.
