Rfa1 also known as Rpa1 is a protein component of the Replication Protein A (RPA) complex. It is 70 kDa in size and it plays an important role in DNA metabolism. This protein helps in the stabilization of single-stranded DNA intermediates. Rfa1/Rpa1 expression occurs in various tissues across different species reflecting its importance in cellular processes involving DNA.
Biological function summary
Replication Protein A helps maintain genome stability by providing a platform for the recruitment of other proteins involved in DNA repair and replication. Rpa1 is an important component of the heterotrimeric RPA complex which includes Rpa2 and Rpa3.
