Ugt2b also known as UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 2B is an enzyme with a molecular mass of approximately 60 to 65 kDa. It plays a significant mechanical role by catalyzing the glucuronidation process which involves adding glucuronic acid to various substrates. This modification increases the solubility of lipophilic molecules. Ugt2b is expressed in several tissues with significant levels in the liver where it facilitates detoxification. It is also found in other tissues like the kidneys and intestines.
