Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/mL BSA, 50% glycerol, and less than 0.02% sodium azide. Store at -20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody.

Specificity / Sensitivity
VSV-G Tag (E8S5G) Horse Chimeric Monoclonal Antibody detects recombinant proteins containing the VSV-G epitope tag. This antibody recognizes the VSV-G tag fused to either the amino or carboxy terminus of targeted proteins in transfected cells. This antibody detects exogenously expressed VSV-G tagged proteins in cells expressed under a CMV promoter. Expression under other promoters has not been evaluated.

Source / Purification
This recombinant chimeric antibody is engineered from VSV-G Tag (E8S5G) Rabbit mAb #93372 according to animal-free protocols. The chimeric antibody retains its antigen-binding Fab regions from the original rabbit monoclonal antibody but contains a horse-derived Fc domain. When multiplexing, Fc-directed rabbit secondaries are required to detect rabbit-host primary antibodies. The parent antibody, VSV-G Tag (E8S5G) Rabbit mAb #93372, is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide containing the vesicular stomatitis virus glycoprotein epitope (YTDIEMNRLGK).
Background
Epitope tags are useful for the labeling and detection of proteins using immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunostaining techniques. Because of their small size, they are unlikely to affect the tagged protein's biochemical properties. The VSV-G tag is derived from an epitope from the C-terminal region of vesicular stomatitis virus glycoprotein (1). VSV-G is widely used both as an epitope tag in expression vectors and for pseudotyping lentiviral vectors due to the stability and broad host range of the resulting pseudotypes (2,3).
