Product details:
Abcam's anti-Brucella IgG Human
in vitro
ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the accurate qualitative measurement of IgG class antibodies against Brucella in Human serum and plasma.
A 96-well plate has been precoated with Brucella antigens to bind cognate antibodies. Controls or test samples are added to the wells and incubated. Following washing, a horseradish peroxidase (HRP) labelled anti-Human IgG conjugate is added to the wells, which binds to the immobilized Brucella-specific antibodies. TMB is then catalyzed by the HRP to produce a blue color product that changes to yellow after adding an acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of Brucella IgG sample captured in plate.

Brucella IgG known also as Immunoglobulin G for Brucella detection possesses an important role in the immune response against Brucella species which are intracellular bacterial pathogens. Brucella IgG is an antibody class involved in identifying and neutralizing these bacteria. Its molecular mass typically falls within the range of 150 kDa characteristic of IgG antibodies. This target is usually expressed in the serum of infected individuals and serves as an indicator of chronic or past infection. Various diagnostic assays including enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) frequently employ this immunoglobulin to measure levels of specific antibodies present in the patient’s system.
Biological function summary
Brucella IgG contributes significantly to the immune defense by facilitating opsonization and enhancing phagocytosis of Brucella organisms by immune cells. This antibody may not form part of a larger complex but works in concert with other components of the immune system like macrophages and cytokines. The presence of Brucella IgG can indicate an adaptive immune response maturation but not necessarily active bacterial replication. Consequently monitoring IgG levels can provide insights into disease progression and the individual's immune status in response to Brucella exposure.
Pathways
Detailed knowledge of Brucella IgG's functional role should consider its involvement in the humoral immune response. It is pivotal within the adaptive immune system pathways particularly in processes recognizing and neutralizing pathogens. Brucella IgG synergizes with complement proteins enhancing bacteriolysis and clearance of Brucella organisms. Another related pathway includes its interaction with Fc receptors on effector cells triggering phagocytosis upon pathogen binding which is essential for pathogen elimination and infection control.
Comprehensive understanding emphasizes Brucella IgG's relevance in diagnosing and monitoring brucellosis an infection requiring careful management due to its persistence and possible complications. Heightened levels of Brucella IgG correlate with chronic brucellosis aiding in distinguishing it from acute infection phases. This antibody also connects to other proteins like IgM in serological profiling assisting clinicians in comprehensive disease evaluation and therapy response assessment. Understanding such disease-related dynamics ensures effective brucellosis management and potentially minimizes widespread transmission risks.
