PTTG1IP also known as PTTG1 interacting protein plays an important role in cell regulation by facilitating the transport of the securin protein PTTG1 to the cell nucleus. This protein has a molecular weight of approximately 23 kDa. It is expressed highly in the testis but also found in other tissues like the placenta and thymus. The transport function of PTTG1IP ensures proper cell division and control of genomic stability.
Biological function summary
PTTG1IP is essential in controlling the cell cycle by enabling the proper localization of the PTTG1 protein. By being a part of the larger regulatory network PTTG1IP impacts the balance between cell proliferation and apoptosis.
