APLP2 also known as Amyloid Precursor-Like Protein 2 is a cell surface protein with a mass of about 92 kDa. This protein belongs to the same family as Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP). APLP2 is notably expressed in many tissues including the brain where its expression is significant. It participates in a variety of cellular functions due to its structural and functional properties similar to that of other amyloid precursor proteins.
Biological function summary
APLP2 participates in the regulation of neuronal growth and synaptic stability. It functions as a part of a larger protein complex and shares structural similarities with other members of its family which suggests overlapping functions.
