HGFA Inhibitor 2 also known as HAI-2 is a serine protease inhibitor involved in regulating the activity of hepatocyte growth factor activator (HGFA). The approximate molecular mass of HAI-2 is 54 kDa. This inhibitor is widely expressed in many tissues but shows especially high expression in the epithelial tissues including the liver kidney and gastrointestinal tract. It often acts near sites of tissue injury or regeneration due to its role in controlling proteolytic activity.

HGFA Inhibitor 2 is involved in the control of protease-mediated signaling pathways by functioning as a member of a protease inhibitor complex.
