MTG16 also known as myeloid translocation gene 16 is a transcriptional corepressor weighing approximately 145 kDa. It collaborates with other transcription factors to regulate gene expression during hematopoiesis. You can find MTG16 predominantly expressed in hematopoietic cells particularly within bone marrow. It interacts with several chromatin-remodeling complexes influencing the transcriptional machinery intricately.
Biological function summary
MTG16 modulates blood cell development and differentiation processes. As part of a transcriptional repressor complex MTG16 interacts with histone deacetylases and various other corepressors. This interaction suppresses target gene transcription maintaining precise control over cell lineage commitment.
