Protein Arginine Methyltransferase 2 (PRMT2) also known as HMT1 is a member of the protein arginine methyltransferase family. This enzyme carries out the transfer of methyl groups to arginine residues on target proteins influencing gene expression. PRMT2 has a molecular mass of about 59 kDa. It is detected widely in human tissues most notably in the liver heart and brain. This distribution indicates its involvement in a broad range of cellular activities.
