Product details:
Abcam's EGF Rat ELISA Kit (ab193734) is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of rat EGF in sera, plasma and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for rat EGF coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and the immobilized antibody captures EGF present in the samples. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-rat EGF antibody is added. After washing away any unbound biotinylated antibody, an HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. After incubation, the wells are again washed, followed by the addition of a TMB substrate solution to the wells. Color will develop in proportion to the amount of EGF bound in each well. Addition of the Stop Solution will change the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) also known as urogastrone is a single polypeptide that facilitates cell growth proliferation and differentiation by binding to the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR). The EGF protein is characterized by a relatively small molecular weight of approximately 6.4 kDa. It is expressed in various tissues including the kidney submandibular glands and Brunner's glands in the mouse and other species. The presence of anti-EGF antibodies can further enhance the understanding of its mechanical actions and functions in different organisms.
Biological function summary
