RPL36 also known as Ribosomal Protein L36 is a component of the 60S subunit of the eukaryotic ribosome. This protein has a mass of approximately 12.5 kDa. RPL36 helps in the assembly of ribosomes facilitating protein synthesis in the cell. It is expressed in various tissues including the liver and brain where cell growth and division require robust protein production.

RPL36 plays an essential role in the synthesis of proteins by participating in ribosome biogenesis. As part of the ribosomal complex it contributes to the formation of the large ribosomal subunit which in collaboration with the small subunit synthesizes proteins from mRNA.
