LGALS14 also known as Galectin-14 is a member of the galectin family a group of beta-galactoside-binding proteins. It has a mass of around 14 kDa. This protein is expressed highly in eosinophils and placenta tissues. As a carbohydrate-binding protein LGALS14 participates in cellular interactions and its expression level may vary depending on cell activation states or pathological conditions.
Biological function summary
Galectin-14 functions in the immune response and regulation of inflammation. It can influence cell apoptosis and modulate signaling pathways through binding to specific carbohydrate moieties on cell surfaces.
