REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute and ERS Genomics Limited, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the limited use licenses and relevant patents please refer to our

The APJ Receptor also known as the Apelin Receptor (APLNR) is a G protein-coupled receptor with a molecular mass of approximately 42 kDa. You find APJ Receptor highly expressed in tissues like the brain heart and lungs. It acts as a receptor for the peptides called apelin and elabela playing a critical role in signaling processes across various tissues. The receptor demonstrates complex mechanical actions by coupling with G proteins to inhibit adenylate cyclase activity and regulate other intracellular signaling pathways.
Biological function summary
The APJ Receptor influences cardiovascular function fluid homeostasis and energy metabolism. It does not form a part of a larger receptor complex but collaborates closely with other proteins within cellular networks. APJ Receptor engagement by apelin or elabela modulates blood pressure cardiac contractility and fluid balance underlying its important role in cardiovascular and renal systems. Therefore this receptor contributes significantly to maintaining physiological homeostasis.
Pathways
The APJ Receptor is integral to the Apelin signaling pathway known to influence cardiac function and embryonic development. It interacts with proteins such as the angiotensin receptor which also participates in regulation of blood pressure. Additionally APJ Receptor involvement in the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway affects cell survival and growth allowing it to intersect with pathways involved in various physiological processes.
APJ Receptor has connections to conditions like heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. Altered APJ Receptor function contributes to these diseases through its effect on cardiac and vascular systems. Moreover interactions between APJ Receptor and proteins such as endothelin receptors highlight its role in the progression of pulmonary hypertension highlighting the receptor as a potential therapeutic target in cardiovascular disease management.
