REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute, ERS Genomics Limited and Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the licenses and patents please refer to our

ARRDC3 known as Arrestin Domain Containing 3 is a relatively small protein with a mass of about 47 kDa. It acts by regulating the internalization and degradation of specific seven-transmembrane receptors through endosomal pathways. ARRDC3 expresses widely in various tissues with higher expressions in the brain heart and skeletal muscle. The protein contains an arrestin domain and initiates interactions with other proteins in cellular signaling.
Biological function summary
ARRDC3 influences cellular communication and adapts cellular responses. As part of a complex that includes members of the NEDD4 family E3 ligases it influences ubiquitination processes. ARRDC3 modulates the degradation and downregulation of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) which plays an important role in maintaining cellular signaling dynamics. This regulation affects multiple cellular functions including receptor recycling and signal transduction efficiency.
Pathways
ARRDC3 prominently integrates into the ubiquitin-proteasome system and GPCR signaling pathways. It functions in pathways that manage receptor trafficking and desensitization. The protein interacts closely with β-arrestins which play significant roles in GPCR internalization. The coordination with these proteins ensures the proper signaling cascade and termination impacting overall pathway efficiency.
Alterations in ARRDC3 expression have implications for cancer and obesity. In certain cancers such as breast cancer altered ARRDC3 levels correlate with tumor progression and metastasis. The protein also associates with energy balance and body weight regulation linking its function to obesity. The interaction with β-arrestins in these disorders suggests a mechanism where disrupted receptor trafficking exacerbates these conditions.
