REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute and ERS Genomics Limited, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the limited use licenses and relevant patents please refer to our

STAM1 also known as Signal Transducing Adaptor Molecule 1 functions mechanically as an important player in intracellular signal transduction. It operates as an adaptor protein that interacts with various molecules within the cell. STAM1 has a molecular mass of approximately 58 kDa. Researchers observe high expression of STAM1 in the cytoplasmic region of cells being particularly abundant in immune cells. It engages in various protein-protein interactions to exert its function.
Biological function summary
STAM1 participates in endocytic trafficking and cytokine receptor endocytosis. It often associates with the ESCRT-0 (Endosomal Sorting Complex Required for Transport) complex which plays an essential role in sorting ubiquitinated cargo for lysosomal degradation. This protein helps regulate the cellular response to certain cytokines by facilitating the downregulation of activated receptors thereby contributing to signal attenuation.
Pathways
STAM1 involvement can be seen in cytokine signaling pathways and the ubiquitin-proteasome system. In the context of cytokine signaling STAM1 interacts with components like the Janus Kinase (JAK) family and Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription (STATs) modulating cell growth and immune responses. It also has a significant function in the ubiquitin-dependent endocytic route coordinating with other ESCRT components like HRS (hepatocyte growth factor-regulated tyrosine kinase substrate).
Research links STAM1 with oncogenesis and neurodegenerative conditions. In cancer aberrant STAM1 expression correlates with altered growth factor receptor degradation potentially affecting tumor progression. STAM1's interaction with key proteins like c-MET a receptor tyrosine kinase can influence oncogenic signaling. In neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease STAM1's role in protein trafficking and degradation may contribute to the accumulation of misfolded proteins emphasizing its importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis.
