REACH authorisation
Abcam has not and does not intend to apply for the REACH Authorisation of customers' uses of products that contain European Authorisation list (Annex XIV) substances.
It is the responsibility of our customers to check the necessity of application of REACH Authorisation, and any other relevant authorisations, for their intended uses.
Lysate preparation:
Our lysates are made using RIPA buffer to which we add a protease inhibitor cocktail and phosphatase inhibitor cocktail (ratio: 300:100:10).
This means that the protein of interest is denatured.
If you require a native form of the protein please use the live cell version. Please refer to our lysis protocol for further details on how our lysates are prepared.
User storage instructions:
Lyophilizate may be stored at 4°C. After reconstitution, store at -20°C for short-term storage or -80°C for long-term storage.
This product is subject to limited use licenses from The Broad Institute and ERS Genomics Limited, and is developed with patented technology. For full details of the limited use licenses and relevant patents please refer to our

STT3B also known as Dolichyl-diphosphooligosaccharide--protein glycosyltransferase subunit STT3B is an integral component of the oligosaccharyltransferase complex. STT3B weighs approximately 84 kDa. It predominantly resides in the endoplasmic reticulum of eukaryotic cells. This protein facilitates the transfer of glycan chains to nascent proteins which is essential for proper protein folding and stability during glycosylation process.
Biological function summary
Oligosaccharide transfer processes necessitate the presence of STT3B which acts as a catalytic subunit. STT3B is vital in the post-translational modification process as it participates in co-translational and post-translational N-linked glycosylation. As part of the Sec61 complex it collaborates with other subunits such as STT3A to ensure complete glycosylation particularly for those sites missed by STT3A during initial protein synthesis.
Pathways
Protein glycosylation heavily relies on STT3B's function. It integrates within the N-glycan biosynthesis pathway influencing protein quality control and degradation pathways. Alongside proteins like STT3A and other components of the oligosaccharyltransferase complex it determines proper protein localization and stability. This pathway contributes to cellular processes linked with protein maturation and trafficking.
Defective function of STT3B impacts congenital disorders of glycosylation (CDGs). This protein's dysfunction interrupts normal glycosylation patterns leading to multisystemic issues. Its connection with proteins in the glycosylation pathway such as DDOST highlights its relevance in glycosylation-related ailments. Additionally alterations in STT3B may relate to certain cancer types where abnormal glycosylation can influence tumor progression and immune evasion.
