Human LECT2 ELISA Kit (ab269554) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of LECT2 protein in hep plasma, serum, cit plasma, tissue extracts, and edta plasma. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Human LECT2 with 0.706 ng/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. Leukocyte cell derived chemotaxin 2 (LECT2) is a highly conserved protein that functions with major development in liver regeneration, immune modulation, bone growth, neuronal development, cancer, and several more in pathophysiology. Studies have shown LECT2 to be a positive regulator of chondrocyte proliferation. Moreover, the liver is considered to be the source of LECT2 due to exceptionally high levels of mRNA. However, expression in these cells is extremely low or undetectable suggesting that hepatocytes secrete LECT2 instantly after production.

The target 'LECT2' also known as leukocyte cell-derived chemotaxin 2 is a 16 kDa protein. It plays a role in immune response and signaling by acting as a chemotactic factor for neutrophils. LECT2 is a secreted protein primarily expressed in the liver and found in circulation in the bloodstream. It has been associated with acute-phase response and inflammation.
Biological function summary
LECT2 contributes to tissue regeneration liver function and modulation of immune responses. It is not known to be part of a larger protein complex but interacts with multiple receptor types on cell surfaces. LECT2 can inhibit mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway by binding to specific receptors affecting cell proliferation and survival. It also plays a role in metabolic processes.

The LECT2 protein influences the MAPK and JNK pathways impacting cellular stress responses and inflammatory signaling. Its interactions with other proteins involve MAPK family members like p38 and ERK. LECT2 has strong connections to liver-related conditions such as fatty liver disease and liver fibrosis. It also associates with conditions like amyloid A kidney amyloidosis. In these diseases LECT2 interacts with inflammatory cytokines like interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) which play roles in inflammation and fibrosis. These interactions can alter disease outcomes and affect therapeutic strategies targeting these inflammatory pathways.
