Product details:
Human CCL14 ELISA kit (ab272201) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of CCL14 protein in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatant. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Human CCL14 with 4.4 pg/mL sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
-Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less
-High sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility from superior antibodies
-Fully validated in biological samples
-96-wells plate breakable into 12 x 8 wells strips
A 384-well SimpleStep ELISA® microplate (
ab203359
) is available to use as an alternative to the 96-well microplate provided with SimpleStep ELISA® kits.
C-C motif chemokine 14 (CCL14), also known as HCC-1 and NCC-2, is a cytokine encoded by the gene CCL14. Mature secreted CCL14 is a 74- amino acid containing active glycoprotein and is constitutively expressed by multiple tissues and has been found at high concentrations in plasma.
CCl14 enhances the proliferation of CD34 myeloid progenitor cells and has weak activities on human monocytes through receptors that also recognize MIP-1 alpha. CCL14 induces intracellular Ca
changes and enzyme release but does not induce chemotaxis in monocytes.

CCL14 also known as HCC-1 or HCC-3 is a small cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family. It has a molecular weight of approximately 8 kDa. The protein is found in a variety of tissues where it is secreted by immune cells fibroblasts and endothelial cells. CCL14 interacts with chemokine receptors to mediate cell signaling and can be detected at the interface of inflammatory responses. Its expression can be modulated during different immune responses.
Biological function summary
The CCL14 protein acts as a chemoattractant for specific types of white blood cells including monocytes and lymphocytes which are critical in mounting immune responses. It does not function as a part of a larger complex but operates independently to influence immune cell trafficking. CCL14 is involved in modulating inflammatory reactions by recruiting immune cells to sites of tissue damage or infection. It helps orchestrate a coordinated immune response by activating target cells through its receptor binding.
Pathways
CCL14 plays important roles within the immune response and inflammation pathways. It contributes to the chemokine signaling pathway facilitating the migration and activation of leukocytes. Another significant pathway involving CCL14 is the MAPK signaling pathway which it influences through interactions with other signaling molecules such as CCL3 and CCL5. These relationships highlight CCL14's roles in both promoting and controlling immune responses.
CCL14 is linked to various inflammatory and immune-related diseases. It shows a strong association with chronic inflammation disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis where it contributes to tissue infiltration by immune cells. CCL14 also plays a role in atherosclerosis where it can influence the recruitment of macrophages that contribute to plaque formation. Through these conditions CCL14 interacts with other proteins involved in these pathologies including CCL2 and CXCL8 which further modulate inflammatory processes.
