Human Fatty Acid Synthase ELISA kit (ab279412) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of Human Fatty Acid Synthase protein in human cell and tissue extract samples. Fatty acid synthase, also known as Type I fatty acid synthase, is an multienzyme encoded by the FASN gene. FASN contains two identical subunits in a head-to-tail connection of a 272 kDa monomer, each containing seven known catalytic activities, including ketoacyl synthase, malonyl/acetyltransferase, dehydrase, enoyl reductase, ketoacyl reductase, acyl carrier protein, and thioesterase. Fatty acid synthase catalyzes the biosynthesis of long-chain saturated fatty acids, particularly C16 palmitate, from acetyl-CoA and malonyl-CoA in the presence of NADPH.
