ECM29 also known as proteasome-associated protein ECM29 homolog is a multi-domain protein with a molecular mass of approximately 209 kDa. The protein acts as an adaptor that links molecular chaperones to the proteasome. Highly expressed in tissues with high proteasome activity ECM29 mainly locates in the cytosol. The structure of ECM29 suggests it interacts with the proteasomal regulatory particle altering its conformation and functional state.
