ADAM17 also known as TACE (tumor necrosis factor-alpha converting enzyme) is a metalloprotease belonging to the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease) family. This protein functions by cleaving and shedding extracellular portions of cell surface proteins. It weighs approximately 93 kDa.
