TRIM47 also known as Tripartite Motif Containing 47 or GOF functions as an E3 ubiquitin ligase. This protein has a molecular mass of approximately 67 kDa. It participates in the process of transferring ubiquitin from E2 conjugating enzyme to substrate proteins which leads to proteasomal degradation of these proteins. TRIM47 is expressed in various tissues with high levels observed in the testis and brain and it shows differential expression in certain types of cancers.
Biological function summary
TRIM47 affects cellular processes by regulating protein stability and turnover. As an E3 ubiquitin ligase it assists in tagging proteins for degradation which is important for maintaining protein homeostasis within the cell. By controlling protein levels TRIM47 influences cellular proliferation differentiation and apoptosis. It is involved in the degradation of proteins that are part of cellular signaling pathways which can impact the cell's response to external stimuli and stress.
