LMW Kininogen also known as Low Molecular Weight Kininogen has a molecular mass of approximately 68 kDa. This protein is produced mainly in the liver and circulates in the plasma. It serves as a precursor for the vasoactive peptide bradykinin and plays an important role in the kallikrein-kinin system. LMW Kininogen cleaves to form bradykinin upon activation which is mediated by tissue kallikrein and plasma kallikrein.
