Product Description

Hemopexin, also known as beta-1B-glycoprotein, haemopexin, Hpx, and Hx, is a glycoprotein that has a molecular mass of approximately 63 kD and belongs to the hemopexin family of proteins. Hemopexin is the plasma protein with the highest binding affinity for heme. When oxidized, hemoglobin that circulates alone in the plasma (also known as free hemoglobin) turns into methemoglobin. Methemoglobin then further dissociates into free heme alongside the globin chain. When further oxidization occurs, the free heme will turn into free met-heme. This will cause the hemopexin to bind to the free met-heme, forming a met-heme and hemopexin complex until it reaches a receptor on hepatocytes or macrophages within the spleen, liver, and bone marrow. Evidence suggests that brain and blood iron homeostasis is perturbed in Alzheimer’s diseases. Deficiency of iron loading onto its major transporter protein, transferrin, was observed in Alzheimer’s, which suggests further examination of peripheral iron/heme metabolism.
100μg
Verified Reactivity: Human
Antibody Type: Monoclonal
Host Species: Mouse
Formulation: Phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide
Preparation: The antibody was purified by affinity chromatography.
Concentration: 0.5 mg/mL
Storage & Handling: The antibody solution should be stored undiluted between 2°C and 8°C.
Application: IHC-P - Quality tested
Recommended Usage: Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded immunohistochemical staining. For immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, a concentration range of 5.0 - 10.0 µg/mL is suggested. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
