IgG is a monomeric immunoglobulin composed of two identical heavy chains and two identical light chains, linked by inter-chain disulfide bonds. In humans, there are four IgG subclasses—IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4—named in order of decreasing abundance. These subclasses differ in the size of their hinge region and in the number and arrangements of the inter-chain disulfide bonds linking their heavy chains. Among the five immunoglobulin isotypes, IgG is the most abundant in human serum. It is synthesized and secreted by plasma B cells and is involved in the secondary immune response. Measuring IgG levels can serve as a diagnostic tool for certain conditions, such as autoimmune diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, and immunoglobulin-deficiency disorders. A: No, ELISA MAX™ Deluxe Sets do not come with plates. Coating Buffer and Assay Diluent (for blocking and dilutions) are included in these sets. Plates can be ordered separately (Cat No. 423501), and instructions for coating the plates are in the sets’ product manuals.
