APPL1 interacts with adiponectin receptors and mediates the INS-sensitizing effects of adiponectin in muscle and endothelial cells. It also participates in nuclear signaling and transcriptional regulation, mostly by modulating the activity of various nuclear factors [PMID:22685329].
