It is involved in the regulation of phosphatidylcholine biosynthesis. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. PCYT1B encodes three isoforms of CTβ (CTβ1, CTβ2 and CTβ3). CTβ1, CTβ2 isoforms are present in humans and CTβ2 and CTβ3 isoforms have been identified in mice. The CTβ2 can be detected as 41 kDa, and CTβ3 can be detected as 39 kDa. This antibody can recognizes both PCYT1A and PCYT1B. PCYT1A usually exists in the form of a 80 kDa dimer.
