BAT5 belongs to the α/β-hydrolase domain (ABHD) containing family of metabolic serine hydrolases and possesses both an esterase catalytic triad and an acyltransferase domain (PMID: 25290914). BAT5 not only participates in lipid metabolism but is also involved in the regulation of inflammation and immunity.
